In a music landscape brimming with talent, few artists manage to carve out a lane as refreshing as Shoday. Born Shodade Solomon Segun in Ogun State and raised in Lagos, Shoday is a sonic architect crafting melodies that are both emotionally resonant and rhythmically infectious.
Discovering early on that music was his truest creative outlet, he sharpened his songwriting and developed a debut sound that quickly caught fire.
Shoday first turned heads with the heartfelt single Dey 4 You in 2021, a love letter wrapped in Afrobeat rhythm and smooth vocals. It racked up over half a million streams on Audiomack in just one week! The buzz reached industry heavyweight Don Jazzy, who not only endorsed the track but danced to it—a moment that helped catapult Shoday into the national spotlight.
His 2022 breakout hit Caution––later remixed by Skiibii— earned him a spot on Apple Music’s ‘Up Next’ list for Nigeria.
Riding that momentum, Shoday signed with Yung Music Empire and built a strong discography with tracks like Maradona and Melanin, as well as collaborations with Peruzzi, Idowest, and Bella Shmurda. The latter delivered a standout feature on his debut EP Brkfst.

His 2024 EP Brkfst further cemented his place as a fully formed artist, showcasing a crisp 6-track buffet that blends traditional African rhythms with contemporary flair.
With tracks like Halleluyah, Silver Spoon, Billion Boy, Wuru Wuru, Girls Hostel and You, the project spans afropop warmth, introspective ballads, and hook-laden productions. The Guardian aptly dubbed him an “Afro-fusion artist” carving a fresh lane in the genre.
Shoday was a content creator and skit maker, using humour and creativity to connect with audiences online. That storytelling flair carried into his lyrics, which often explore themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery.
By early 2025, Shoday had become a sought-after live act, performing to over 25,000 fans at Lagos Mainland Block Party and igniting the stage at Bella Shmurda’s Ibadan festival.
On streaming platforms, he’s smashing records—boasting over 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 19 million total streams. His 2025 single Gaddem debuted in the top 10 on Spotify Nigeria, pulling over 112,000 streams in under a week!
Viberate praised his sound as one that “perfectly captures Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and musical diversity.”

Despite his growing fame, Shoday holds a National Diploma in Building Technology from Yaba College of Technology and continues to shine as an introspective lyricist and master of the melodic hook, laying the groundwork to become one of Afrobeats’ most exciting exports.
As he stands at the crossroads of viral fame and lasting legacy, now’s the perfect time to tap into Shoday’s music. Because if his trajectory so far is any indication, one thing is clear: the juice is only getting sweeter!
